The Big Table Event - August 29, 2018
Morning Event: A Mental Hour
Location: Hopewell (130 E. Chestnut Street)
Last year, we hosted our first Big Table conversation titled, Mask Off: Hope, Recovery and Resilience in the face of Mental Illness. We dove into the discussion of Mental Health in our community and how it impacts our work, affects our relationships and how it’s killing our people. We talked success, societal pressures, social media, and perception to help us come up with the plan of how to take care of ourselves, our loved ones and our community. From this discussion, we hosted an hour of yoga with Replenish Spa Co-op and a Mental Health First Aid workshop led by one of our very own, Dontavius Jarrells. We also set out to social media asking all of our members and follower's to take the Stigma Free pledge. 1. Educate yourself and others 2. See the person, Not the condition 3. Take Action.
