This initiative and community service opportunity is to mobilize more African Americans to donate blood especially during the COVID-19 crisis. Our participation is needed more than ever now. With African Americans having a higher number of individuals infected with Sickle Cell, we need to do our part to make sure the community has the blood supply needed to support these individuals. There is special type of blood, Ro, that is more common in African Americans (44% of African Americans carry the Ro blood type) meaning we need more African American donors to fill this need.

All safety precautions will be taken by Versit Blood Centers in regards to COVID-19, so save a life today and sign-up; not able to give blood, sign-up to volunteer.
